Dr. Nish Patel & Dr. Veera PatelOur Story as Owners, Optometrists & a Husband/Wife TeamStarting in high school, Dr. Nish Patel began his first days working at Peepers Eyecare, filing and working as a tech. At the time, it was owned by Dr. Erick Gray, who was Dr. Nish Patel's mentor growing up. He later went on to receive his undergraduate training at Northwestern University in Chicago and soon after his doctorate degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. It was here in Boston in 2010 where he met his now wife, Dr. Veera Patel - a hard working California girl with an eye for fashionable eyewear! After they both graduated from the New England College of Optometry, Dr. Veera Patel and Dr. Nish Patel got married in Santa Barbara, California and soon began working in Maryland for many years. Eventually, as Dr. Erick Gray retired, they took full ownership of the Peepers Gambrills and Peepers Bowie locations in 2018.
As their passion for eye care and vision health in the community grew so did their reputation. Now, the couple takes another exciting step as they open their Boutique Optical in Annapolis in 2020 – NV’y Optical on Main! (formerly known as Eyes on Main) The team here in Annapolis now has over 30 years of experience in the eye care field and are passionate about their products and remaining unique to the Annapolis community. The team at Peepers Eyecare Centers and NV'y Optical are dedicated to providing their patients with unmatched service both in the exam room and in the eyewear selection process. Dr. Kevin IskandarDr. Kevin Iskandar is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During his time in Philadelphia, he worked alongside multiple practices and clinics that served underprivileged and disadvantaged communities. Dr. Iskandar joined the Peepers Family Eyecare team in 2016 where his goal is to provide comprehensive, dedicated, and compassionate eye care to his patients. Dr. Iskandar is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association.

Dr. Nish PatelDr. Nish Patel has been a member of the Peepers Family Eye Care Team since 2002. He graduated from the science and technology program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. He went on to attend Northwestern University where he earned a Degree in Physiology with Honors. Dr. Patel graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2011 where he served on the Executive Board of Vision Development.

Dr. Veera PatelDr. Veera Patel was born and raised in sunny California. She attended the University of California, San Diego and graduated with a degree in Human Biology with a minor in History. During her college years, she spent some time volunteering abroad with a non-profit group “Unite for Sight” to help underserved populations in remote villages regain sight through cataract operations. These experiences solidified her passion for eye care. After graduating UCSD, she continued her eduction in Boston at the New England College of Optometry where she received her doctorate degree. It was here that she met Dr. Nish Patel! After she graduated from Optometry school in Boston, the two got married in Santa Barbara, California in 2014 and settled in Gambrills, Maryland - where they both continue to help their patients and community with their eyecare needs. In her free time, Dr. Veera Patel loves to watch movies, cook, and travel!

Dr. Helen WangDr. Wang was born locally here in Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park. She continued on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry to receive her Doctorate. Dr. Wang provides refractive eye exams along with screening and treatment for common eye diseases, co-management of glaucoma and post-operative cataract and dry eye conditions. Additionally, Dr. Wang is a contact lens specialist, utilizing the latest technology to address a full scope of refractive problems that might require custom-made contact lenses, complex rigid gas-permeable contact lens fit, and scleral contact lens for keratoconus.
